"the world will never allow itself to be held to ransom for excess profit for food"
geeze dont we get into very loaded language in this debate
firstly "who is the world"? and how will they stop it?
define excess ? and why are food profits in anyway excessive considering the worlds farmers have struggled for 40 years
the food and energy issue is simply a limits of capacity issue, man is out of capacity to reduce energy from fossil fuels so at the last for the short to medium term it will have to grow its energy, the worlds population has also expanded and so the limits of the food resource supply chain is straining to provide food to these extra people
yes its going to get very emotional and moralistic but the reality is farmers from free countries like the US and Australia will be allowed to sell their crops on the open market for whatever they can get
in countries where this freedom doesn't exist governments will attempt to centrally plan food production, centrally planned food production fails, just look at the causes of the Russian and Chinese revolutions
