Last week, Impedimed also bought assets and intellectual property from US-based Intersection Medical. The assets are linked to potential technology for measuring and monitoring chronic heart failure.

“There’s an enormous market for the heart-failure indication — if we have a product that works,” Dr Hirst said.

Intersection was actually originally part of Impedimed, but de-merged before Impedimed’s stockmarket listing. Dr Hirst said the purchase gave Impedimed greater protection over the associated intellectual property.
