    they could just test the uncharacterised background DNA and RNA that is everywhere in life, testing for a sequence they know is there, then just lie and say its a virus.

    or they could very cheaply make lots of synthetic DNA/RNA put it somewhere, then test people exposed. The PCR signal would be red hot.

    Its all a big complicated lie; of exaggerated science, virology, diagnostics and sequencing.
