He is Deputy Chairman of Hunter Hall International Limited (Director since March 2004) and a Director of Hunter Hall Global Value Limited (since December 2003).
And he might have benefited when HH stepped in to stop Dr Gray from doing even more damage to their investment in Sirtex.
21 Aug 2006 "Sirtex Medical Limited announced that the Company has been served with proceedings in the Federal Court Of Australia issued by the University of Australia (UWA Proceedings). The UWA Proceedings name Dr. Bruce Gray as the first respondent, the Company as the second respondent and Cancer Research Institute Incorporated (CRI) as the third respondent. Dr. Gray and CRI have substantial share holdings in Sirtex and Dr. Gray is a Director of the Company. According to UWA proceedings: 1) beneficial ownership of a number of inventions allegedly developed by Dr. Gray in the course of his employment at the UWA. 2) It also makes a claim to Dr. Gray and CRI's shareholdings in the Company and certain ancillary and alternative claims against the Company. As a result Dr. Gray has decided to step down as Chairman of the Company. The board has elected Mr. Richard Hill as its new Chairman. "
Oct 15, 2006 "Hunter Hall (HH) and Colonial First State (CFS) have intervened in the internal dispute involving Sirtex. The company and its founder and major shareholder Dr Bruce Gray, are suing each other. Gray wants the chairman, Richard Hill, to be removed. Sirtex produces a treatment for liver cancer and achieved a 90 per cent increase in sales in 2005-06, to $A5m. However, the dispute is estimated to have cost the company $A1.6m in legal fees to date. HH and CFS, as big institutional investors, stepped in to ask retail investors to vote against Gray's motion to dismiss ... "
But I can't find a direct (reassuring) association. Is he related to Peter Hall perhaps?
