Biota probably couldn't buy Biocryst because the Biocryst market cap is about the same as Biota's. This is despite the fact that Biocryst has no drugs in production and three drugs in the clinical trial stage, Peramivir and two highly specialised chemotherapeutic agents; all three with a limited market, assuming they complete the FDA approval process, and nothing in production to give an income stream. That this company should be valued similarly to Biota by the market is an indication of just how undervalued Biota is.
