At this point, we need a CEO with great business and leadership skills. I think Biotech experience is irrelevant (again based on the number of people there who have Biotech skills).
I almost agree with this jessie. Great business and leadership skills should be the number one criteria, but surely biotech experience can't be totally irrelevant. Can it? Somebody probably argued that when they appointed Mr Cook!

If the CEO doesn't have biotech experience then he relies heavily on those below him/her making decisions.
I always prefer a CEO with relevant experience. The business world is littered with examples of excellent CEOs failing to transition across industries. If you believe Taleb it's all luck anyway!

Now saying that, I think Australia probably lacks in depth in senior biotech talent. So as jessie said settling for great business and leadership skills may be the best that can be hoped for.
