You can still get an immune response from the low level contaminating proteins especially if the protein is produced in E .coli.
I took at the Antibody paper you referenced [1] and they didn't do any exposure of the i-bodies to plasma, but mouse stomach and intestine scrapings. Is there another paper that looked at in vivo blood stability?
