Just one you forgot, Prana are working on the solution for the disease which is threatening to destroy our health care worldwide.
Once all you could expect was the three score and ten years. Now bring on the statins(like Lipitor) which is very good at removing colestrol, new blood pressure meds, inroads into cancer, improved operating procedures, medical robots with can remove a tumour, computer controlled tables aqnd lazers to provide pin point laser surgery , the human genome project completion, stem cells etc, and now 85yrs is not so uncommon.
The first baby boomers enter old age this year. Predicted ongoing alzheimers costs are staggering.
One Australian resarcher, Ashley Bush, came up with a theory that the reaction of metals in the brain could be the problem. A theory already discounted by the research community.
He and some like minded scientists from Melbourne University and Harvard medical school in the US, formed Prana which has continued to refine reseach along those lines, culminating in the published Cell paper late last which caused a stir. The paper petty much proves their theory, and it is still not being accepted fully. They are about to commence a 500+ 12 months trial which should put opposition to rest.
They have already seen some success in a 2A clinical trial in only 12 weeks.
If it works and can, as early indications in the last clinical trial promise, even reverse Alzheimers, then they have a drug that could eclipse Lipitors $10B annual sales and it is just a matter of how many Nobel Prizes to hand out.
I am very positive about this company and think it should be included in your list of prospective Australian biotechs.
I am not qualified in any medical field so do your own resech.
