On Sept 7 BIT released an ANN titled: Biotron Compounds Show Activity Against SARS-CoV-2 Virus. In the ANN they said.....

• This screening program has successfully identified a subset of 15 compounds that had activity against SARS-CoV-2.
• The results to date are encouraging. Biotron believes that these results open up a promising new therapeutic pathway.
• These results have led development of new compounds that are being tested and aim to be tested on animals early next year.

The existing compounds were encouraging and it has led to new developments. How can you say those first compounds "weren't that great" when it has led to the next stage. If they "weren't that great" they wouldn't bother continuing with the screening becasue they have plenty of other stuff on their plate.
