Let's play a game. It is called, Share Trading for Aliens.
Actually, it is not a game. It is how some traders dilligently approach the stock market.
This is the scenario.
Some clever aliens come to earth, yet have no expereince in trading. But they are super clever and fast learners.
Some earthling explains to them how the stock market works and they take it all in. The only information they have though is what they are told and what they can deduce from it. Apart from that, their brains are a blank slate to human ways, but they do have incredible powers of reasoning.
Today's stock for analysis is BIT. They are informed that it is a biotechnology company working with new drugs to cure diseases that are so far uncured. The aliens are impressed. They are told that Biotron has not commercialized any drugs in the 20+ years of their existence. Alien antennas rise nervously. Aliens are now given all Biotron's past announcements and research papers prior to 2020.
The aliens deduce that Biotron's HIV research has promise, but realize that important next steps are missing. What has happened in the two years since? They are then informed about the 2020 presentation that outlined the mode of action of BIT225, and the 2021 scientific paper published, which makes all allien antenna buzz with excitement. They deduce that a new phase 2 trial is necessary to validate the mode of action by testing the hypothesis, and that trial results should show strong evidence of hidden reservoir HIV cells becoming exposed to the immunity system. The aliens then are fairly informed that new trials have commenced, of which they are very pleased to learn of, which also validates their own reasoning.
The aliens then go about discussing between themselves what they have learnt, and are given news papers between 1920 and 2020. This brings much discussion to the alien table, and sad laughter about the wars, and they deduce that humans are really pretty stupid creatures, and it is only a matter of time before they probably become mostly extinct.
They decide to make investments in arms production and all things military, only to learn that the ASX is actually not the best place to benefit from this sector. Sticking then to their main investment category, they become intrigued by the many new viruses that have appeared since 2002, particulary corona viruses that have evolved to become more deadly to humans, and they read all material about the six corona viruses to date, and suggest that news appearing from the last days of 2019 is likey to add the seventh such virus.
Then they are informed from 2020 onwards and naturally, their insightfull suspicions from the 2019 virus are confirmed, but most intriguing, is their investment strategy and Biotron's history with such viruses. They quickly deduce from all the information available that therapeutics will become a significant means to controll the virus as they are not so quicky prone to invalidation from mutations, and from the same reasoning, deduce that Biotron's viroporin technology is likey to benefit from the same, as their target is the most stable of all the virus proteins, and that it also plays a critical role in viral replication.
Aliens then decide to double down when they read Biotron's latest C-19 results and the significant probabiity of becoming fast tracked into CTAP, but regardless, with the company stating that a shorter human trial commencing imminenty, they are impressed enough that Biotron has significant upside. Finally, they discuss the common link between BIT225 treating HIV and C-19, and add to their thesis that this is beneficial for commercial gains.
By the end of the discussion and being very pleased with themseves, they make a revelation to their human hosts that send the aliens into fits of laughter. They realize that human internet trolls are in fact a species of alien that were banished from their own planet for being so stupid, and it is no surprise that the trolls are continuing here on planet earth, where they seem to fit in with many of their hosts, like a virus, one alien adds, bringing even more laughter to all.
