Good to see the BAM presence on the Board.

Derek G. Pannell credentials look good.

The following excerpts from press release of June 21, 2006

"The Mining Association of Canada (MAC) is pleased to announce the election of Derek G. Pannell, as Chair of the Association. Mr. Pannell is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Falconbridge Limited.

Mr. Pannell was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Falconbridge (formerly Noranda) on June 1, 2002. Mr. Pannell also served as the President and Chief Operating Officer for Noranda between September 2001 and June 2002. Mr. Pannell has been an active member of the MAC Board and a key member of the MAC Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) initiative, serving as Chair of the Governance Team.

Mr. Pannell is a metallurgical engineer with over 35 years of experience in the mining and metals industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Imperial College in London, England. Mr. Pannell is a Board member of the International Council on Mining and Metals. He also acted as Co-Chair of the Mining Industry Training and Adjustment Council from 1996 to 1998, was a member of the Premier of New Brunswick's roundtable on the environment from 1995 to 1997, and was President of the Rouyn-Noranda CEGEP during 1991 and 1992.

Mr. Pannell is registered as an engineer in Quebec and Peru."
