    These viruses keep changing and so does their virulent characteristics.
    In the past the majority of chickens kept in sheds were destroyed if an outbreak occurred and in the wild the birds would die and the virus then died out.
    I believe the current strain is surviving in wild populations at a low level and continuing to infect flocks.
    It is important to keep wild birds and commercial flocks separated.
    The reason why free range birds are such a risk to the industry.
