Accepting refugees is disgusting.
Its sexist (majority are men)
Elitist (only richest can pay people smugglers)
Not effective as the cause is never addressed
And inefficient as you mentioned above.
There is no logical reason to accept a refugee if you want to stop the harm that refugees suffer.
And thats before you consider people gaming the system, failed integration and terrorism.
