I read about grants and fast tracking for some other HCV drugs recently and thought exactly the same . We certainly qualify for fast tracking status and am sure they are onto that one too . The FDA issue fast track status for both HIV and HCV high potential drugs .
There is grants for orphan drugs ( rarer diseases ) but I don't think there is any for the new classes . Fast tracking is likely a more profitable approach . For instance a bird flu compound might get grants . I don't know about the possibility of Aussie grants via the universities but I would say they could get support for early lab work and new compounds .
I can't believe how undervalued this is when you look at where we are at compared to the enormous US companies . The cash will start to come because the writing is already on the wall .
There is not another drug that works like this . Also there is nothing anywhere near it ... as far down the FDA track is concerned .
