THe 2012 halfening resulted in an increase in 2013 the 2016 one resulted in an increase in 2017 why are you looking now . If anything the 2018 people being burnt should turn short term speculators away AS I have posted before if anything the increased sophistication around bitcoin will act as a drag on the price . It should be also be noted that staright after the last halfenings the price went down for a short period given the bigger figures being dealt with today why wouldnt that be larger. I can see three th possible scenarios 1. demand remains the same supply falls due to halfening over time price rises 2. demand increases supply falls die to halfening price rises 3. demand decreases supply decreases movement in price depends on which of the two is greater
