Since Bitcoin IS a public ledger, that is false. You can look up every transaction that ever occurred or is currently occurring. You can trace the Bitcoin transactions all the way back to when they were originally mined. The perfect way to conduct crime without being caught would be to use something virtually untraceable such as fiat currencies (USD, AUD, etc).
