The US government has seized 22 tons of Gold held in New York by the Afghan government. We might agree with it in this instance but the principle stands it is not a secure form of value .
The US government also stopped US dollars being transferred to Afghanistan to stop the Taliban getting it but we keep getting told that BTC is the preferred currency for terrorist financing.
