So sorry to hear.. it's unfortunate/sad hearing situations like that as know of a few people in the same predicament with their ASX portfolio down -35% if they sell - the key is never to panic sell in such dire situations as in time thing's should recover/hopefully go back up again.. may take a lot of time (& patience) though.
Comes down to risk management & trading strategies etc. being so important in volatile markets.
