I'd suggest nothing had changed "fundamentally" .
couple of theories ..the halving stuff has something to do with it.

and also the huge advertising/ media bombardment that crypto market seems to get going when it's doing well particularly.

unlike stocks for example all cryptos basically follow btc price wise.. So it's in the interests of everyone holding Crypto to regurgitate the "it's going to the moon" stuff... Every crypto holder is on the same side. That creates a lot of noise when it's doing well and attracts a lot of people to have a punt ...

I still ask where did all that media attention come from in 2017 where it went from basically unheard of to on everyone's facebook page etc.. Non stop.
who paid for all that advertising?
had a staged feel about it..
totally unfounded conspiracy theory. .but has anyone ever seen anything like that before.. The extent of the advertising that happened at that time?

Some pointed out this was the work of criminals back then but were ignored by the young ( now strangely totally absent ... ) who claimed to know better....

Intrinsic value was always NIL and ''the bigger fool theory'' explains it all beginning to end.
