This is actually my number one peeve with govts of both persuasions - literally selling the farm. I also HATE it that wealthy non residents can just buy our residential properties - just look at Sydney. Our kids and grandchildren no longer have a hope of buying a house where the jobs are! Short term greed has made it so that we will soon be 3rd world citizens in our own country. So short sighted to sell our assets. After all, in China alone there are over 100 million millionaires - that is bigger than our whole population! Multiply that by all the other wealthy people in India, Canada etc, and we have no hope of competing. Other countries do not allow this. Why are we so stupid?
