Drilling is testing an AMT target.  AMT, like all geophysical methods (with the possible exception of metal detectors) does not detect gold directly.  In this case, it has been interpreted that the AMT is mapping an alteration zone.  Carlin style gold is closely associated with alteration.  Not all alteration has gold in it, but all gold is in alteration for this style.  A one hole test of a mineralisation model carefully constructed from geology, geophysics, observed outcrop, geological models, and case studies is not a measurement of success or, indeed, failure.  Exploration requires serendipity, if it were otherwise everybody could easily find gold and it would be worthless.

I'm not positioning for a failure, just pointing out reality.  Emu's work is progressing in an ordered professional way.  The impatience of some, or the indignation of others that they haven't announced bonanza grades already, does not alter that.
