Australia should have a proper Thanksgiving day, (giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year), Apparently Japan and Germany, Norfolk Island etc have similar days. It would have more meaning than a Black Friday marketing campaign which gets us to go out and buy stuff. Don't we already have Christmas sales and Boxing day for that? Lets keep Black Friday for the bushfires where 71 people died.
While we're at it lets get Guy Fawkes night back. Oh thats right, we can't be trusted to have fire works like New Zealand and almost everyone else can.
