I do wonder if there is a reason for it. It seems unusual to have such appalling sales for no reason.

My theory is this:
They are already hitting their growth target and would be uncomfortable going much higher. Of course, one view is that there can always be more growth and more sales but as we know from experiences during COVID-19, TPW would rather focus on making sure customers have a good experience and come back rather than focusing solely on growth. Perhaps their systems aren't set up in a way that they can just scale growth, after all COVID-19 pushed forward by years the adaptation of online shopping.

Really crap sales, no doubt about it, but maybe there is a reason for it all behind the scenes. I'd imagine this was a calculated decision by management. As a consumer I'd look past TPW if I see other shops advertising much better sales, but maybe that's the point. \

I work in banking and when 1 bank has a better interest rate than another, this is no accident. The bank with higher mortgage rates don't want to grow their books as fast as the other. The bank that has lower savings rates are holding too much funding, hence want to discourage people putting their savings with them. To the average person it looks like a random fluctuations of interest rates, to the bankers it's very calculated decisions. So while I don't have a background in ecommerce, perhaps there are things at work here that I'm not aware of.
