87 saw the market rise so steeply in the preceding year the chart looked like it was going to fall over backwards, an orgy of bulls. And fall over backwards it did!
That situation any fool could see was way overbought. Todays situation is more one of mamoth debts, overvalued pe's and general lack of confidence in figures presented.
Also we have a very unstable political situation in the world, which seems to be heading closer and closer to all out conflict. Wars have a habit of correcting financial markets and resetting the scales to balanced.
