Unfortunately for us, Swan made a very stupid promise about the budget surplus, and after the monstrous Gillard lie over the Carbon Tax, he has no choice but to deliver on this May.
If he doesn't forecast a surplus (note he doesn't have to actually deliver one, just promise one, as we won't know if the government did deliver a surplus or not until the last quarter of next year, probably after the next election) then the ALP are completely, totally, irrevocably "stuffed".
So come hell or high water they will forecast a surplus this coming financial year not matter how they cook the books to make it look like it's going to happen.
