BlackRock are not only giving $12 million. They also own 5% of the company.
For owning 5% and giving AVB $12 million, they are happy to earn only 2% of the profits.
Would you rather they sold out down the track just when us poor shareholders are close to making our long earned capital gain?
Most of our gain would be chopped to threads.

Instead, the existance of BlackRock has the potential of attracting more investment and increasing our gain and while they are collecting royalities, they won't be in a hurry to sell out.
