Great summary of the past on how people had to practice self deprivations to get ahead.
A plastic lamp shade cost me $10 while my wage was $100 a week; living on a single income, paying off a home loan and bring up 2 kids.
Lost nearly half of my wages on tax because I had to do overtime work.
My current home had no carpets, sheets for window covering, no fence, driveway or grass…. If I saw a bit of couch grass on my travels, I would dig a bit up and replant it in our yard.
If I go by the younger generation moaning, I’ve had a cost of living crisis for nearly half a decade!
I’ve have modified the MacDonald index which compares the cost of a Big Mac in other parts of the world.
And according to the lineup of cars near our shopping centre…there is no cost of living pressures!
I live in a working class suburb where this store should be under pressure and forced this Macca to go broke!
