The Queensland Government today announced that an $85pa levy will be placed on all residential properties in Qld to cover compulsory ambulance service membership.

Multi-tennanted buildings, units & apartments, will be levied $85pa for each dwelling, to be paid by the owner of the building.

The new taxation will ensure that all Queenslanders have ambulance cover in all states of Australia.

The reason given for the levy, is that those who previously were not ambulance service subscribers & used the service, quite often did not pay the bill.

Given that all other states provide a reciprocal service to residents who are members of another state's ambulance service, how long will it be before all states introduce a similar levy?
