I'm not a Bligh fan by any means and don't like the way labor has managed the state under her management.

But to be fair, in this situation she is coming across well at this stage especially compared to the PM on Sunrise this morning who almost appeared to be smirking into the camera with WE will do this; WE will do that; WE etc, etc, etc as if she was in campaign mode fighting for every last vote. This absolutely isn't the time for policital point scoring especially from the top.

By contrast, Anna Bligh was more down to earth and appeared to show empathy to those affected. She also appeared practical, sensible and was refreshing after watching the PM's almost artificial speech.

I would also doubt that it is Anna Bligh's job to control the dam releases. That would have to be a highly technical and well trained person in that specific position.

I dont' think too many people took the threat of these floods too seriously. It seemed an impossibility after the lengthy drought. Both Gillard and Bligh seemed to sort of brush it off when the floods first started with their paltry $1m each. I noticed they changed when Qld news became world news and as the disaster deepened - literally...
