Dividends - well as a newbie you've been spared my years of ranting against cashed up oilers who refuse to pay divi's or return cash in any other manner. CVN does have the excuse that it does not actually have a comfortable level of excess cash.

Of 100 or so ASX listed oilers under $2bn mc, I am aware of about half a dozen that have ever paid a divi, and then mostly a once or twice off, and in the case of BPT very token.

You are entirely in the wrong patch if you need immediate divi's. I was very hopeful that CVN would join the small list, and I remain (with some better reasons) expectant that my other main oiler CUE will. My other two oilers NZO and PPP (only very small holdings) have, but I couldn't recommend either.

I suggest hard rock miners if you want reliable divi's, or else WPL, STO or ORG (not that I hold or recommend these).
