I can't fathom it either. The above ground CTL process is 70 yrs old and well proven on huge commercial scale by SASOL (amongst others) who also use a lower quality coal similar to lignite for their CTL. CTL firms don't use the very best grades of bitchimous coal as these sell for premium prices to power stations and coking coal is $300/ton on spot mkts!!!
I have reservations re UCG as process not yet established on a commercial scale. Linc intend to build a commercial size plant next year and i will follow their progress.
So i am surprised re lack of interest in BLK. When i called company the MD noted how valuable the info/research provided by Wesfarmers is. Plus having Wesfarmers on board brings great backing to BLK.
But maybe BLK simply too small for mkt to notice at this stage?
