If you'd bothered to look at other posts I've done, one can't repeat everthing one has already commited on, I'm the first to admit that there are good & bad in all communities rich poor, short tall, fat skinny, black white, bald or not etc etc etc. And for some people no-one can help them because they won't help themselves however you would have to agree that they represent a very small part of society. I too managed to pay my home off on minimum wage as you call it, I started in the 4th year of my apprenticeship & also included 14 years of no holidays with essential living only. What I am bitterly opposed to are the ones who get on here raving about bludgers, union thugs etc & not even considering that there are people out there who have experienced shocking things & in many cases being in a situation that they themselves had no input into, if you are one of these people I make no apologies for thinking you're scuum no-matter what socio-economic background you are from. I have NEVER at any stage stated that all people less fortunate desrve our help & support but I am getting tired of people putting words in my mouth. Unless everybody repeats everything they have said in every post they write, one should go back to their previous posts if they feel that strongly about something before taking them to task over something. I have good friends [not just acquaintances] from a very broad range of society, some I agree with others I don't but I can say that one thing we all agree on is that there are a lot of people being left behind in this so-called resources boom, something that all Australians should be benefitting from not just the lucky or chosen ones. Next time you hear or say what a great job Howard has done with his surplus you might like to think of some of the elderly who have died or been in extreme pain because they are on a waiting list for a hip replacement, heart surgery etc. He didn't even think they should have even basic dental. If you feel that's good management then I'm glad I'm not related to you, that is just one little example of Howards triumphed success that you & others seem to think is great, he gutted the Customs Dept, cut heaps out of education, we all know about hospitals, his charm is never ending. Probably the ONLY thing he has really achieved is that not one cent of big business' money was raised to fund his priorities, it was all done by cutting back to the bone on essentials for Australians, as I said before Mr Bean could have been at the healm but you will earn for yourself eventually. So, to those who think Howard has done such a super human thing, all you have to do is thank the elderly, the sick, teachers & pupils, lecturers & students etc etc. for making it all possible. Some of you people are going to look pretty stupid when all the truth comes out, which it will inevitably do. I don't know what you're getting at with the headmaster reference but I too know quite a few teachers along with 2 headmasters who are really decent people but to what your point is I have no idea. I couldn't imagine surrounding myself with friends who think the same way I do or restrict people in my life to only others I regarded as being on the same socio-economic level as myself, how boring life would be not to mention how could anyone comment on anything if they choose to only socialise with the same type of person, may be I am the odd one, ah well I'm in good company anyway, I think ???????????????? Some people have obviously led a fantastic life & indeed do give back to society whether it be in a monetary sense or in time, those people are truly noble but the ones who just think of themselves, jumping to criticise or pigeonhole anyone they feel is not up to par, they are the people I dislike with a passion & always will, they want to hope that reincarnation is a myth, imagine coming back as a pauper or even a Union Delegate, one can only hope.
