Lynas said on Tuesday that the company had ten months from the issue of the TOL to comply with the environmental stipulations, and said that it was confident that it would comply.

The miner said that it was conducting detailed commercialisation activity to safely commercialise the material and to deal with it in accordance with the TOL. The company had constructed a plant at the Lamp site, which was now ready to convert the residue into co-products for market trials.

Lynas executive chairperson Nick Curtis told reporters in a teleconference on Tuesday that the company had received “significant commercial interest” from potential buyers of the by-product.

“But we need to produce it before we can commercialise it,” Curtis was quoted as saying.
