Yes plans for Suriname are uncertain. Simon indicated at the meeting that the Utik block (spelling? next to the large Tamberadjo field) provided lower risk and lower cost potential production. I have a vague recollection of him saying they would initially be working over either old wells (perhaps that discovered HCs but were then uneconomic) or that given there was a large oil field adjacent and infrastrucure the risks and costs would be lower. Wells will be cheap too.
Regarding the bidding for the offshore blocks in Suriname ... my guess would be that they may end up with a JV or farmout some of whatever they get to a major who is operating in the area .. perhaps the same one as they are negotiating weith on Guyane?? I know that Occidental and Repsol already have blocks offshore Suriname.
