Forget last year as that was all stock market crash related. That was the biggest scare of them all and the collapse of Lehman Brothers started it all.
These are the events that caused Gold to do that.
If you think that we will have similar events this year to last then maybe we will have another crash and maybe Gold along with it???? (I doubt it)
