The EU will vote in May to ramp up its sanctions against Russua- which may include a TOTAL ban on Russian gas, oil, & coal by 2027 (The EU & Japan have already agreed on a total ban by 2030)
The Russian invasion, the widespread torture, rape, murder etc. of civilians, & the implications of the Russian dictatorship intimidating/trying to exert control on the EU is causing an increasing public baclash against it from democratic countries.

Japan, a few days ago, announced it will be shortly sending large supplies of military weapons to Ukraine; & there have ben reports Japan may seek close military ties to AUKUS. Japan is very likely, IMO, to join an EU total ban on Russian energy imports also- & replace these with Australian imports.


CNN 14.4 22 said

“It is necessary to diversify exports. We need to assume that in the foreseeable future, deliveries of energy in the western direction will be reduced. Therefore, it is important to consolidate the trend of recent years: step by step, reorientate our exports to the fast-growing markets of the south and east. To do this in the near future, time to identify key infrastructure facilities and start their construction,” the Russian president said...

More context:Amid the war in Ukraine, the European Union is trying to slash imports of Russian gas by 66% this year and break its dependence entirely on Russian energy by 2027. A new,sixth round of sanctionsis already being discussed, and some EU officials have called for action on Russian oil and gas exports (Coal has already been banned- my words in brackets)".

"Europe has given itself just five years to break its addiction to Russian oil and gas.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Friday that EU leaders had agreed to spend the next two months drafting proposals for eliminating the bloc's dependency on Russian energy imports by 2027.

"By mid-May we will come up with a proposal to phase out our dependency on Russian gas, oil and coal by 2027, backed by the necessary national and European resources," Von der Leyen said after an emergency summit of EU leaders called to discuss Russia's war in Ukraine
