Hi Sandybeaches I agree with what you have said.What I should have said was that so called blue chip companies can still lose you money.For example Babcock and Brown or Macquarie bank could have been called blue chip yet have performed badly in recent years and in the case of Babcock don't exist.Also the wording defensive stock.A defensive stock to me would be cash in the bank.
