A bit more on this, I reckon I am looking at it the wrong way, the skin already knows not to attach to other body parts, it is when they place some artificial stuff in the body where the problems start, but BTM is inert in the body, it doesn't support bacteria or the growth of anything, it just allows the body's tissue to grow through it, and it dissipates over time as well once the support function has done it's job.
