I don't think it's WPL that was disrespectful, it should've been a very black and white process...
COP - Hey FAR & CNE, WPL just offered us $2.90 per barrel for our share of SNE.
CNE - Aye, that sounds cheap but we're happy with our current share thanks.
FAR - Cool. Give us a couple of weeks and we'll come back to you.
COP - No worries.
[2 Weeks Later]
FAR - Ok, we'll take all of it off your hands for the same price.
COP - Nice! Let's do this.

Instead, COP were the disrespectful ones in this scenario. WPL are only guilty of trying to get the best deal possible for themselves and maybe some premature media celebrations...
