@BlueGenUK: Nobody likes a cold beer! So don't switch your fridges off overnight to reduce energy costs! Here's a better solution http://t.co/oekpsIIRfh

re-inventing energy
changing the way energy is generated
Reduce your energy costs without compromising customer experience
Nobody likes a warm beer…
Imagine the scene: a customer walks into a bar on a hot day and orders a beer from the fridge, the barman hands him the beverage, but apologises that it’s ‘not cold’ because the fridge has been switched off all night to save electricity. The customer is cross, and takes to social media to vent his annoyance at having to settle for a tepid drink on a warm day because the landlord is ‘scrimping’.
Turning fridges off over-night might help save on electricity costs, but if it results in unsatisfied customers, then it’s a risky energy saving initiative.
Going to the pub should be an enjoyable experience, and a warm inviting ambiance (and a nice ice-cold beer!) is key to enticing new customers and ensuring they want to return. However, increasing energy costs – projected by energy experts to increase by more than 8% a year over the next five years – mean that landlords are faced with the challenge of reducing energy consumption in order to increase the bottom line, and sometimes this has the effect of reducing the customer experience. It’s a real ‘catch 22’.
Achieving a balance between reducing energy costs and maintaining a great customer experience is a real challenge for landlords. Many find that they have to compromise on the look and feel of the pub or the services they can offer in order to achieve cost reductions. Let’s be honest: solar panels on a thatched roof or a wind-turbine whirring away in the beer garden do little to maintain the idyllic ambiance of a rustic pub. Even seemingly subtle changes, like replacing traditional light bulbs with LED powered lights could play havoc with the pub’s ambiance, and whilst they could work well in kitchens and storerooms, they might not be an option front-of-house.
However, there is an alternative, much less obtrusive option, and thanks to a government initiative, it can now be installed at your pub at no capital cost to you – you only pay for gas and maintenance, receiving electricity and hot water in return.
BlueGEN is a fuel cell generator that transforms gas into electricity to provide continuous power generation to reduce demand from the grid. The generator also reduces the amount of gas used for hot water – a boon considering heating and hot water can account for over 40% of a pub’s energy use*.
Cold beer, hot chips…
Because the BlueGEN operates continuously, there is no need to reduce the hours for which you run business critical equipment such as refrigerators, pumps and kitchen equipment. In other words, it will help to ensure that your customer can enjoy their beer cold and their chips hot!
Better for the environment
Apparently, 63% of pub landlords and restaurateurs would like their business to be greener than it is now, but 48% cited cost as the main barrier preventing them from implementing green initiatives**. This issue is overcome with the fully funded installation of BlueGEN, which will not only reduce your environmental impacts, but also help you increase your bottom line via savings on energy bills.
If you would like to register your interest (with no obligations) in having BlueGEN installed in your business click here. As always, it’s a question of first come, first served!
