A Bluegen will produce the same CO2 as burning the gas in a conventional generator but produces about twice the electricity per MJ of gas. It gives 4 times as much power per Kg CO2 as a black coal power station and about 6 times as much a brown coal station.
Putting it another way your 12.6 MJ/hr of gas is converted by a Bluegen into 7.5MJ of electricity (that it 2 KWHrs) and 3.6MJ collected in water as hot water, with the rest lost as flue gas heat.
Compare this with a gas fired generator set using 25 MJ of gas to give the same electricity and 17.5MJ of heat sent out in the flue gas or in cooling water.
This is the result of the high efficiency of the Ceramic Fuel Cell.
Assuming 1 Kw of waste heat is turned to hot water, raising the water by 50 deg, my back of an envelope calculation is about 300 litres per hour. (I am happy to be corrected on this.)
Bluegen should benefit from higher feed in tarrifs as it is 24/7 and controllable where as the solar is a max of 10 hrs per day and subject to weather variations. As Bluegen is not on the market no decisions have been made.
