Speaking to an electrical engineer friend of mine about that issue and he said it should be possible to have it feeding into the house, and have it running when there are black/brownouts. You could possibly elect to have a switch so that it can direct power into the house, and not through the grid.

Don't understand half of what he said, been an accountant - we do speak different 'languages'. But would be interested to know if anyone else thinks this is possible as well from an engineering/electrical point of view?
