Quite clearly governments want BNPL to fail as its a horrendous rort against the most vulnerable members of society with heinous fees to customers for account keeping and transaction fees.
You cannot disrupt an existing incumbents business unless your product offers a superior solution.
Zip and all BNPL models are quite clearly inferior to what LD repeatedly refers to as " the broken credit card model "
As the evidence shows Zip has been forced to pull out of numerous territories as there is no path to profitability and Apples withdrawal signals that a takeover is highly unlikely.
When i started this thread the vision was that ultimately all BNPL companies will fail as the business model is nonsensical.
Nearly every other BNPL has failed and only because shareholders were dumb enough to pour over a billion dollars into this bottomless pit, is Zip still operating.
Its a fools errand to continually quote the total adressable market when the product itself is so inferior.
Governments will get rid of BNPL by stealth with more regulation and consumers will wake up to expensive the product is when merchants start passing on fees.
