How long is a pice of string? Depends on rate of drilling, hardness of the rocks, and target depth. Possibly 30-50m a shift, two shifts a day, times number of shifts to get to target depth. With portable XRF (if they have one) they might announce rough and ready on the spot estimates for nickel-copper etc. Accurate assays from the lab can take several weeks even with a rush order. Visual estimates of sulphides (if any present) plus whether the sulphides are just iron sulphide or contain nickel-copper sulphide species can be done on the rig as it comes out of the ground, but misidentification of sulphides can potentially occur (both over estimate of nickel AND underestimate of nickel) so the key will always be assay results from the lab.
