    I think using archaic govt decisions to explain current policies can get a bit awkward in that it suggests impotent review and change mechanisms.

    The renewal process is supposed to occur every election cycle and I don't think it's too much to expect devolution, evolution and tarting up to occur in respect to the electorates expectations, no matter the political colours of govt. Siblings blaming siblings, snitching etc. to get out of trouble with mum is such an uncomfortable situation, but how it's managed to gain acceptance in the political and social fabric in our nation since the 90's is really bizarre and embarrassing.
