Thats an interesting point but presupposes that any one person in an administration gets to arbitarily make a decision about an issue without it being balanced out by experts from different disciplines.

Even an unhealthy political ecosystem that is unlikely, because leadership are generally smart enough to work out that contrary opinions lead to a more balanced outcome. The exception is unless it is completely contradictory to the political or religous idealology in flow.

So it is highly doubtful intelligent, robust individuals are being side lined from input.... but then there does seem to be a counterflow to that sort of prototypical and reasoned thinking.
