In my grandad's day Rockefeller was drilling spindletop, today the Deepwater Titan is drilling deep under the ocean (greatest company that ever existed did I mention that)?

Thats not long in human history for us to deplete such a vast resource.
The trend is for decline as long as our ideas are domination of other people and the environment. Technology isnt going to bring back what we had and destroyed without ever understanding it.
