Alexium’s new Eclipsys product is due to be launched before the end of this year. Bob Brookins said today that the first customer was “a major supplier of body armour” and that it would be in an application for first responders. He mentioned deaths of police officers from heat stress. That comment, combined with a photo of a uniformed police officer in the company's presentation, suggests to me that US police might be the first to benefit from Alexium’s perpetual cooling technology.

The three top body armour manufacturers in the US, in order of revenue, are Safariland, DuPont and Point Blank Enterprises.

I agree with Seb Taylor that Point Blank solutions would seem to be a great fit. From their website

Brookins envisages multiple potential applications for Eclipsys technology in the military setting – for example, in boots and backpacks - and says the company is “making them aware of our product offering”.

There would certainly appear to be a need. In 2018, 2,792 cases of heatstroke or heat exhaustion were diagnosed among active-duty service military members, an increase of almost 60% over the decade. The problem was most pronounced in the Marine Corps, which saw the rate of heat strokes more than double from 2008 to 2018.
