I am quite confident that the trials are well underway. I have previously worked with nurses involved in the recruitment of participants for medical trials. From my experience with them it has always been an ongoing process of recruitment over several months or longer. It would be impractical for all participants to begin at the same time due to the amount of individual attention given to each person (everyone likes some individual attention!) and to have the larger amount of staff needed for a very short time frame may not be possible to organise. As we want the participants, being able to fit around their availability is also important or they would just not bother. I don't think you can realistically sign someone up to a trial and then expect them to wait perhaps months to take part. they could change their minds, move out of the area, go on holiday etc. You need to get them right away while they are keen to take part! All in my opinion only.
