Hi Laira. The election in 2013 was won by the coalition mainly because of the dysfunction of Labor. They also ran a platform claiming they could be trusted on all its promises. They consequently trashed that trust in record time and their first budget disgracefully adversely targeted families and the most vulnerable.

Since then successive polls show that a majority of the voting community was unhappy with the Abbott led government and many were willing to move their vote to Labor. The Liberal house which had been pushed too Far to the Right of politics under Abbott, had begun to burn down. Malcolm Turnbull and a majority of Liberal MPs put the fire out and can now be assessed on the merits of the new team. Seems to be working with a bounce in the polls and the coalition is in a competitive position again. All up to the policies and approach from here that will determine if the public opts for Liberal or Labor at the next election.

Under Abbott it was all over and if that leadership continued the Liberal house could have been burnt beyond repair.
